    PTFE Special compounds - Special designs 

    Beichler + Grünenwald develops special PTFE compounds for very special requirement profiles of our customers, which often cannot be achieved with standard compounds.

    Specialists, some of whom have many years of experience, select suitable additives for these requirements and develop compound formulations from them, which with their material and quantitatively determined constituents are often only used for a single requirement profile.

    This type of requirement profile can be, for example:

    • Increasing the service life of a dynamic seal with a special sliding partner and a specific medium
    • The achievement of a defined electrical property
    • A special colour
    • A special mechanical property
    • Increase of thermal conductivity
    • A special property in medical technology
    • A special property in food processing.

    These types of examples are almost endless. 

    For the production of compounds, both the common, unmodified and modified PTFE base materials from renowned raw material manufacturers are used. 

    The range of possible additives includes a multitude of inorganic substances such as metals, colour pigments, minerals and mineral fibres as well as heat-resistant natural substances and plastics.

    It is not unusual for Beichler + Grünenwald to develop a compound consisting of three or four components. The company has the flexibility to process even small quantities of special compounds if, for example, the resulting parts are first to be subjected to testing or sampling.
    The extensive modular system of almost unlimited possible combinations of plastics and additives makes it possible to think both in terms of special formulations and in proven standard solutions. Using modern measuring and testing equipment, the quality of the compounds is tested on test specimens produced and standardised in-house. The measured values of the mechanical and physical properties determined are checked for each new batch and compared with the target values. Depending on the result, the batch is released or rejected. Of course, we are constantly working on the basic development and design of special compounds, which can be processed in the press-sintering process and in ram-extrusion.
